Prenatal care

Staying healthy during pregnancy is important because you are not only responsible for your health, but also the health of the little one growing inside you. Moreover, pregnancy brings a lot of changes to your immunity too which makes it easy for you to contract minor illnesses like the flu, stomach infection, etc. and make it last for a longer time. That is why you need to take that extra care during your pregnancy. Here is where prenatal care comes in handy. Prenatal care is not just for you but for your bundle of joy too so that your journey to motherhood is happy and a peaceful one.

What is Prenatal Care?

Prenatal care is the set of healthcare services offered by the healthcare specialist, usually an obstetrician and a team of specialists. It includes the dietary and lifestyle choices that you make when you are pregnant, maintaining the ideal pregnancy weight, and tests and examinations to rule out or control the problems that may occur during pregnancy such as edema and preeclampsia. Also, during the prenatal care your doctor, nurse, or midwife monitors the future baby’s development and performs routine testing to help find and prevent any possible problems.

The most important part of prenatal care is the routine check-ups from a doctor, nurse, or midwife during your pregnancy to keep you and your future baby healthy and strong. You can trust ONP for this. The team of expert doctors at ONP provides the best medical care for you and your baby and guides you through the entire process of pregnancy from start to finish.

How often are the Prenatal Care visits?

This depends on how far along your pregnancy is and if you have any health-related complications. Usually, healthy pregnant women of age between 18-35 years should go for the routine check-ups:

  • For the first 32 weeks, every 4 or 6 weeks
  • For the 32nd-37th weeks, every 2 or 3 weeks
  • A weekly visit is a must from the 37th week until delivery

This can change if you have a high-risk pregnancy or if your age is above 35.
