Oyster & Pearl Hospital stands tall as the indisputable leader of healthcare and hospitalisation services in Pune. Backed by a rich legacy of more than 60 years, it has delivered 1 Lakh+ babies and conducted over 10,000 successful IVF procedures.

The ONP journey began with Late Dr. H.N Phadnis who was a charismatic teacher and exemplary human being.

He founded Shree Clinic from where the mission commenced, flourishing steadily between 1960 and 1990. Started as a 7 bed hospital on Laxmi Road, it expanded to become Shree Clinic (in Shivaji Nagar).

Carrying forward the bequest, Dr. Avinsh Phadnis joined in, with an official change of hands in 1991. He along with Dr. Amita Phadnis expanded the scope of work between the years 1993 and 2001.
Highlights:

  • 1992 – Dr. Amita Phadnis set up the first tertiary level Neonatal ICU, called Neo Clinic, on F.C. Road

  • 1993 – Dr. Avinash Phadnis established the first IVF Clinic and went ahead to support the establishment of 60 IVF centres all over India, Bangladesh and Nepal

  • 1996 – 3-D Ultrasound ambulance services started

  • 2000 – Path Lab was established

  • 2001 – Dr. Amita Phadnis started Sumati Health – the first wellness institute for women in Pune. Its work is now integrated into Oyster & Pearl Hospital.

Consolidation efforts began in 2001 with the Oyster and Pearl ideation, conceptualization and implementation beginning in 2005:

  • September 2008 – The Oyster and Pearl Hospital

  • December 2010 – ONP Tulip  Hospital

  • June 2015 – ONP Shivar Clinic (For Women & Children)

  • September 2015 – ONP Meera Hospital

  • December 2016 – ONP Polyclinic

  • January 2017 – ONP Leela Hospital (in Pimple Saudagar)
