Hey you beautiful mom-to-be, we would love to welcome you to this wonderful journey of motherhood. You just need to remember few things to make your experience healthy and happy.

1. Take Multivitamins –

Keep your body healthy by including rich vitamins and minerals in your diet. Your body needs them to cope with the changes and support the growth of the baby.

2. Don’t smoke and drink –

You have to give up smoking and drinking for the health of your little one. Smoking may lead to learning disabilities and lower birth weight of the child, whereas, alcohol may cause Fatal Alcohol Syndrome.

3. Get a lot of sleep –

Getting enough sleep is vital for your body to adapt to the changing levels of hormones.

4. Keep exercising –

Don’t stop exercising during pregnancy. Regular exercise and yoga will help you deal with many issues like insomnia, muscle pain, excessive weight gain and mood swings.

5. Don’t eat raw and deli meat –

Raw and deli meat can lead to food-borne illness such as listeriosis, toxoplasmosis and food poisoning. Thoroughly cooked food is recommended as it eliminates the risk of food-borne illness.

6. Include seafood in your diet –

Seafood is a great source of vitamins and minerals such as Omega3 Fatty Acids, Zinc & iron that are important for the health of the mom and baby. However, make sure it is well-cooked.

7. Avoid the hot tub and sauna –

Relaxing in high-heat environments of a hot-tub or sauna can be too risky for expecting mothers as it doubles the risk of miscarriage during the first trimester.

8. Reduce caffeine intake –

Your baby’s heart rate increases if caffeine travels through the placenta which is something you would want to avoid. A cup of coffee or two are still alright but not more.
